Getting to/from Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

Our trips in the Dolomites meet in Cortina d'Ampezzo, which is located in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. Cortina is an interesting and historic mountain town which is central to some of the best mountain activities in the Dolomites and offers good transportation links.

Access to Cortina by Air:

The nearest, and most convenient, major airport serviced by most international airlines is Venice Marco Polo airport (Italy). Cortina is only 2-3 hours away from Venice Marco Polo airport, and there are a couple of public and private transfer options available between Venice airport and Cortina (see section below).

Other airports include Insbruck (Austria) and Treviso (Italy), but the connections from these airports to Cortina tend to be less frequent and more expensive.

Access to Cortina by Car:

Cortina d'Ampezzo is accessible by car via the European road network, either from North/South or from East/West. From a North/South direction this is via the motorway SS51 road known as the 'Di Alemagna'. From an East/West direction this is via the SR 48 'Dolomites Road'.
