Guided group tours

Our guided group tours are no-hassle walking holidays, and a great way to explore new areas in the Alps in a safe, simple and social environment.

In our small guided groups there's no need to worry about the daily trip organisation, route finding, trail safety, accommodation booking etc. You just show up, walk, and enjoy!

Your guide is highly trained and knows the area well, so is able to adapt each day to suit the group and prevailing conditions. Let’s face it, mountains are prone to uncontrollable factors such as poor weather, floodings, landslides, and other unforeseen circumstances.

In addition, you have the benefit of being in the company of a knowledgeable leader who can add value to your trip by sharing his/her knowledge about the history, geology, flora and fauna of the areas you visit. It's also comforting to have a leader who knows the local language, the customs, and the owners of the mountain huts and hotels along the tour, which often leads to a better experience (and bigger meal portions!).

Guided tours can be either private or scheduled. On a private guided tour you choose the dates, pace and who you travel with. On a scheduled group tour you join a fixed departure with a team of like-minded individuals.

If you're an experienced alpine hiker and prefer to undertake your hiking tour independently, you may wish to consider one of our self-guided tours instead.

Our Guide/Instructor Guarantee

We always use certified guides and instructors according to the requirements of the specific itinerary. Our guides and instructors are members of their relevant international associations, whether UIMLA, IFMGA or ISIA. Not only is this a legal requirement in most of the Alpine countries, but it's also your guarantee of a safe, knowledgeable and experienced leader on your trip. Our leaders are hand-picked and have extensive experience in the areas they operate in. Most of our leaders are our long-time friends and climbing, trekking or skiing partners who, in addition to being incredibly skillful, are great companions in the mountains. Obviously, all our leaders are fluent English speakers.

Our trip starts with a cable car ride that takes us up to nearly 2000 meters. Here, above the tree line, we begin a stunning high-level walk above the Chamonix valley with exceptional views of Mont Blanc. We descend to the village Les Houches and a traditional Savoyard hotel for the night. (B+D)

DAY 3: Les Houches to Les Contamines

We take a cable car to the top of the ski area in Les Houches. From here, we traverse below the towering Aiguille de Bionnasay and cross the snout of it's glacier on a suspension bridge, before arriving at the Col de Tricot. It's now steeply downhill to the Miage mountain pasture, where a charming mountain hut offer refreshments, before we continue on the last stretch down to the charming village Les Contamines. (B+D)

DAY 4: Les Contamines to Vallée des Glaciers

From Les Contamines we climb steadily up an old roman way towards the top of the Contamines valley. (B+D)

DAY 5: Vallée des Glaciers to Courmayeur, Italy

We leave our charming hut behind and ascend to the Seigne mountain pass, where we cross the border into Italy and get the first views of the dramatic Italian side of Mont Blanc. DAY 10: Champex-Lac to Trient

Leaving Champex, we have a choice of two routes depending on how the group feels. We can cross the notorious Fenêtre d’Arpette - a tiny mountain pass cut into a rugged alpine ridge, or we can opt for the gentler Bovine route, which takes us by an old farm in a high mountain pasture, which serves as a mountain hut and offers superb views of the Rhone valley. Either way, we end the day at a bustling auberge in the small village of Trient. (B+D)
